Grammar School in NSW Teaching Children Sexually Explicit Content

Grammar School in NSW Teaching Children Sexually Explicit Content

Hunter Valley Grammar School in NSW is teaching 15-16 year olds sexually explicit terms and content. We are unable provide the link to this document due to copyright laws (Copyright Act 1968). However, are able to refer to some of the content in this article in the form of screenshots to just some of the highly inappropriate content that children are being subjected to, under the banner of Sexual Health.

We can disclose that the book in question is a Year 10 Health Workbook published exclusively for Hunter Valley Grammar school by Matilda Education, ISBN Number 9780655042372. Interestingly, (or perhaps not surprisingly) Matilda Education have no references whatsoever to this book on their website. Nothing like a bit if transparency when it comes to the education of our children.

From a 195 page workbook on Health, 64 pages are related to Sexual Health. The curriculum in the workbook is nearly one third focused on sexual health. There appears to be an extremely heavy emphasis on sexual health matters, with the examples and content used being highly inappropriate.

Some of the highly questionable content is detailed in the sections below.

Example 1

Example 2

https://leavekidzalone-resources.s3.ap-southeast-2.amazonaws.com/images/hunter-valley-grammar/hunter-valley-02.png

The above is content from pages 135 and 137 of the workbook. Yes, the topic is an important issue such as consent. However, there is absolutely no justification for educating and using these terms to teach children about consent. Introducing such language to children’s vocabulary and making them aware of oral sex, anal sex, mutual masturbation, hand jobs and toys. This is inappropriate at best and disgusting at worst. Teachers have the responsibility and obligation to children whilst under their supervision, to provide a non-harmful environment, free from graphic sexual content. Also using terms such as “intercourse is one bit of the whole meal on your sex plate“, is highly questionable and inappropriate terminology also.

Example 3

Notice the age of consent is not listed, it varies from each state and territory. However, it is 16-17, obviously depending on which state or territory the student resides in. Why is the age not specifically stated as any responsible worksheet giving children full knowledge around consent, should have this clearly stated.

Explicit terms and examples are used to explain consent, however in a moral and lawful regard, when the age of consent needs to be clearly defined, it is not stated. Therefore, on one hand the workbook feels the need to be explicit and detailed as an excuse to describe inappropriate sexual content, then neglects to inform children of an extremely important detail and fact around age (i.e. the age of consent).

The last sentence is of concern as well, why would any educator feel the need to state “You may not be ready for sexual encounters with much older people“, as a way of explaining abuse of power?. The term “much older people“, is clearly grooming and a highly questionable and an unnecessary example to quote.

Example 4

https://leavekidzalone-resources.s3.ap-southeast-2.amazonaws.com/images/hunter-valley-grammar/hunter-valley-04.png

A brainstorming activity that requires 15-16 year old children to name as many sex acts as they can. Sex acts that most likely would not have entered their vocabulary, however they have now.

Yes, we concede there is a percentage of sexually active children in this age group. However not all of them are and it is a fair and reasonable assumption to make that most are not. This content is forcing children to have awkward conversations a good majority are not yet ready to have, and they are made to feel uncomfortable as reported to this site by parents in countless numbers. We are told by education departments schools are supposed to be safe spaces for children, clearly this is another deception as children are made to feel anything but safe being forced to learn about this content.

Example 5

In example 4, at the bottom right hand corner there is a highlighted link to a site that children are directed to for further information on sexual education. This site is called Scarleteen, a grooming site for predators and groomers of children. You as parents are oblivious to the fact your child can be directed to such a website, which is a site based outside of Australia where children can join in live chats, access the message boards section and ask sexually explicit questions to adults behind a keyboard from the other side of the world.

Slightly concerning?

Example 6

https://leavekidzalone-resources.s3.ap-southeast-2.amazonaws.com/images/hunter-valley-grammar/hunter-valley-06.png

This is one of the headers in the message board section, “Confused about masturbation and it doesn’t feel good“. The author as you can see by the highlighted section in the top right-hand corner is a 35 year old male, who is a volunteer/ staff of Scarleteen, he is from Leeds in the UK.

A 35-year-old man who we have no way of identifying who he is or what his qualifications are, is having sexually explicit interactions with children from this country.

Slightly concerning?

This is an extremely and seriously concerning issue where teenage children are directed to sites where they are openly subjected to being groomed. There are Federal Laws in Australia in the Criminal Code Act 1995 around grooming of children, in this regard Sections 474.25 A & B, .26 and .27.

Note the “Disclaimer“ above that is in the opening pages of the workbook. The Australian Curriculum Assessment and Reporting Authority neither endorses nor verifies the accuracy of the information and accepts no responsibility of the incomplete or inaccurate information provided.

So, we have a document that is being taught to children which is of a highly inappropriate nature that is not endorsed by the Australian Curriculum Assessment Authority.

Slightly concerning?

This is from the sexual health section of the workbook. How is indoctrinating children with a term such as “Transphobia“ related to teaching about sexual health?. Short answer is it has nothing to do with sexual health and yet another example of how activist teachers will use any opportunity to indoctrinate children with ideas that push their agenda. The last sentence “transphobia also effects employment opportunities as well as access to housing“.

Please show us the relevant and credible data to support this claim.

The data from ARCSHS is highly questionable at best. It is contrived and inaccurate data designed to support baseless and exaggerated claims such as the one above.

In closing this workbook is just one example of the countless examples of the education around sexual health that is being forced upon your children in schools around the country. You as parents are not being told about and/or being deliberately misinformed about, with a complete lack of transparency. A clear attack on the innocence of your children and subjecting them to content that they are uncomfortable and not ready to receive.

To assist you as parents/grandparents/carers of children we have provided information for you informing you of your rights as parents, which far outweigh any Education Department or school ruling. Also provided is a letter template you can print out and send to your school principal.
